Some students are more excited to be back to school than others Some students are more excited to be back to school than others (September 02, 2005)

Members of the Class of 2006 greeted parents and students with yelps and cheers as they pulled up to Foothill High School Monday, August 29 for the first day of school. Excited to start their first day as high school seniors, nearly 100 students carried signs and wore t-shirts showing their senior class pride.

The students had an attentive audience as parents were tangled in the usual traffic jam that accompanies the start of the school year, particularly in front of both Foothill and Amador Valley High School.

"The first day is the heaviest because a lot of parents bring their one student, but then after the first week they begin to find carpools," said Foothill Vice-Principal Matt Campbell. Campbell, along with Foothill Vice-Principal John Dwyer, spent the morning before the bell directing traffic through the Foothill parking lot and showing parents where to drop-off their student.

"It's about educating drivers where to go," Campbell said.
