(July 08, 2005) Are traffic circles and speed bumps a good way to slow down motorists, or are they just a nuisance?
Asked at Farmers Market.

I think they are a good way to slow down motorists. They give the town more of a European feeling. They also encourage local commerce because people can shop when vehicles aren't speeding by.

Both. They are a very big nuisance, but they do slow people down. We live on a cul-de-sac and have a speed bump and it definitely slows traffic down.
Jane Murphy

I think they are a great idea. We live on Kilkare Road, which is 24 mph and most people are doing 40 mph. We wish there were some speed bumps to slow people down and remind them of the speed limit.

I think they are both. There is a need for them, but there is a nuisance factor, especially if you are in a hurry to get somewhere. But I do think they are necessary.

I believe they do create a deterrent for people are driving too fast, especially around schools and where children are playing. I'm in support of them if they are placed in the right places. @reportertaglne:-Compiled by Sandy Christman
