New exhibit at Museum on Main New exhibit at Museum on Main (July 01, 2005)

The new exhibit at the Museum on Main Street, "Those Who Wait Also Serve," is a poignant look at how families who have loved ones in the military cope while their loved one is deployed. The exhibit will be on display from July 3 to September 4 at the Museum, 603 Main Street. Admission is a $2 per person requested donation. A Preview Party, free and open to the public, will be held at the museum from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, the only hours the museum will be open that day.

Regular museum hours for this exhibit are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1-4 p.m. For more information, call (925) 462-2766 or e-mail valleymuseum@sbcglobal.net.

Students accepted into West Point, Naval Academy Students accepted into West Point, Naval Academy (July 01, 2005)

Foothill High School graduates Nicholas Kanakis and Samantha Nicoll were accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and reported for their Plebe year June 27. Kanakis was nominated by Senator Barbara Boxer and Congressman Pete Stark and Nicoll was nominated by Congressman Richard Pombo.

Amador Valley High School graduate Vincent Bartholdi and Foothill graduate Matthew Dickens were accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Bartholdi was nominated by Pombo and Dickens was nominated by Senator Dianne Feinstein and Stark. They were sworn in June 29.

Homestays needed for French students Homestays needed for French students (July 01, 2005)

Edu-Culture International is in need of eight families to host students from France this summer. There are six boys and two girls who will be in the area from July 12 - August 2. ECI has pre-arranged programs for the students during the day and host children can also take part in these activities for a small cost.
