(April 01, 2005) Sister-city delegation visiting Tulancingo, Mexico
An adult delegation of 26 Pleasanton residents is leaving today for a trip to Pleasanton's sister city, Tulancingo, Mexico. This is the 22nd trip made by a Pleasanton group since the sister-city relationship was established in 1984.
The following residents will represent Pleasanton during the five-day trip: Ron and Lety Hyde, Kent and Alice Pryor, Bob Athenour, Richard and Jane Sharp, Janet and Mike Cloutier, Ron and Annette Mack, Ernie Doehner, Tony Rivera, Susan Dupree, Bruce McFarlane, Shirley Lutes, Maria Cornwell, Cheryl Gray, Madeline Rivera, Steve Murray, Tom Hagen, Lizz Campos, Elinor Stone, James Hinsley and Raquel Aguilar.
The delegation will be greeted in Mexico City by a welcoming committee who will then take them to Tulancingo for a reception. During the trip, the delegation will visit the children at The Chabelo and Asilo de San Jose and historical landmarks. Participants will go on family outings and take part in a traditional celebration, Noche Mexicana. Other events are scheduled but kept as a surprise for the participants. After their visit in Tulancingo, some of the members will continue to Oaxaca, a 500-year-old colonial city, for a four-day visit.
The Sister City relationship between Tulancingo and Pleasanton was established to develop friendships and meaningful exchanges between people of different cultures.
