Foothill DECA excels
(April 01, 2005) Foothill High School students won major categories at the DECA State Career Development Conference held last month. DECA is a national association of marketing students.
Jeff Burrell placed first in Retail Merchandising Management Level role-plays and exams, qualifying him to compete in the International Competition scheduled for April. Josh Bantz, Eric Fracisco, Ben Rice and Jeff Burrell, the Foothill DECA Quiz Bowl Team, placed second in the Quiz Bowl and will also advance to the International Conference. Eric Fracisco, Ben Rice, Morag Forrest and Jessica Narog all placed in the top eight of one or more categories.
Nearly 1,000 high school students attended this year's conference in Costa Mesa and competed in 36 events and categories, ranging from Retail Merchandising to Sports and Entertainment Marketing.

Job Fair for teens
(April 01, 2005) The Teen Job and Community Service Fair is coming to the Pleasanton Senior Center from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 9. Students will have the chance to meet with employers, apply for jobs, participate in mock interviews, learn about resume writing and more. There will also be representatives from nonprofit and volunteer organizations.
Pleasanton Parks and Community Services is organizing this free event in partnership with the San Ramon Parks and Community Services Department, the City of Dublin, and the Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club.

Faustina to address GOP woman
(April 01, 2005) Pleasanton City Council candidate Dan Faustina will speak at a 6:30 p.m. dinner meeting April 14 of the Tri-Valley Republican Women Federated. Faustina, 26, the youngest of the three candidates seeking election on June 7 to a vacant seat on the council, is an executive for Great-West Healthcare.
Born and raised in Pleasanton, he is a graduate of Foothill High School and earned a political science degree from Pepperdine University. While at Pepperdine, he was president of the Psi Upsilon Foundation and captain of the men's rowing team. He also was a deputy campaign director for a Los Angeles educator's run for the California State Assembly and later served on the campaign staff for Republican Claude Hutchison's unsuccessful bid for the 10th Congressional District seat held by U.S. Rep. Ellen Tauscher, a Democrat.
The GOP woman's organization's dinner will be held at the Radisson Hotel, 6680 Regional, Dublin. Reservations are may be made through Marilyn Dubach at 485-9869.
