(April 01, 2005) New laptop stolen from office
Computer equipment valued at $2,120 was stolen from Sierra Sales Engineering, located in the 5600 block of Sonoma Drive, during the early morning hours of March 24.
Police responded to the call and met with the owner of the company at approximately 10 a.m. March 24. The victim told police that someone had entered his personal office and taken the property.
The victim said he entered his office at about 8 a.m., and noticed the door leading outside was ajar, his office light was on, and a second office had its light left on. The victim said he noticed that his new laptop and mouse were missing from his desk and a soft shell cooler with miscellaneous items was gone from the office floor.
The police report stated the suspect used a 1-inch pry tool to unlock the door and nothing else was taken from the other offices; a Toshiba laptop was left behind.
The police report said the occupant of the adjacent suite told police he had found the blinds caught in the mail slot that morning, and it appeared the suspect tried to reach in to unlock the window.
Pillowcase caper
A suspect apparently stuffed items in a pillowcase and removed them from a residence in the 2400 block of Skylark Way during the afternoon or evening of March 22.
Police were called to the residence at 10 p.m. that evening. The victim said she had left her home at 1 p.m. and believed the residence was secure.
The police report stated a family friend returned to the residence at 8:30 p.m. and discovered that two windows above the kitchen sink were open. She discovered drawers that had been opened and left open as though someone had gone through them, police said.
The victim arrived shortly afterward and checked the rest of the home. She said she discovered property missing from rooms upstairs, police said.
The report stated the suspects entered the master bedroom and office and pulled drawers containing jewelry from the dresser and placed them on the bed. They set aside some jewelry and other items. They also left a wallet with credit cards and $60 cash lying on top of a dresser.
The suspects removed a pillowcase and threw the pillow on the floor, according to the report, and it appeared they left through the rear sliding door, as it was unlocked when the victim returned home. The residence backs up to the Sports Park.
Police dusted the residence for fingerprints, and the case has been forwarded to investigations.
