Man tries to lure girl, 15, into car

A suspicious man approached a 15-year-old Foothill High girl and tried to get her into his car at 3:30 p.m. Monday. She was walking home from school on Highland Oaks Drive when he parked next to her, rolled down the front passenger window and asked if she wanted a ride home, police said.

When the girl said no, he persisted. She kept walking and he drove forward and parked ahead of her. She changed directions and went to the office at Lydiksen Elementary School where she called police.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, about 5 feet 6 inches, medium build, with brown medium-length hair. The vehicle is a "boxy" white four-doored 1980s Honda or Volvo. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 931-5100 regarding case No. 05-1456. Police book armed robbery suspects

Police booked four suspects into custody Wednesday for an armed robbery that occurred in the Macy's parking lot at Stoneridge Shopping Center earlier this week. The victim, a 28-year-old man from Cambridge, Mass., was sitting on a landscape planter and talking on his cell phone shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. An older blue hatchback with four men in it pulled alongside the curb and one of the men got out and approached the victim. He removed a semiautomatic handgun from his waistband and demanded the victim's cell phone and wallet.

The victim handed over his cell phone along with a small amount of cash from his wallet. The suspect took them and returned to the waiting vehicle, which then headed south toward Stoneridge Mall Road. The vehicle was described as similar in appearance to a Ford Festiva. Till tap

A young man grabbed cash out of an open cash register drawer at the 7-Eleven store on Hopyard Road on Monday evening. At 7:06 p.m. the suspect entered the store, selected a drink and placed it on the counter, handing the clerk a $5 bill. When the clerk opened the drawer, the suspect quickly reached in and grabbed several $5 and $10 bills, then fled, running north toward West Las Positas Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a black male, 18-20, thin build and clean-shaven. Anyone with information is asked call the police at 931-5100, case No. 05-1462. 150 DVDs missing from Blockbuster

One hundred and fifty DVDs valued at $2,250 were stolen from the Hopyard Road Blockbuster on Feb. 28.

Police met with a Blockbuster employee March 3, who said that at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28, the alarm sounded at the east rear exit door. The employee explained that the three employees working at the time did not see anyone exit that door or get into a vehicle.

The employee told police that they checked the shelves and there were empty slots throughout the store. The employees checked the inventory and discovered there were 150 DVDs missing from the store, estimated at a value of $2,250.

The employee said he reviewed the security tape, which covers the front entrance, cash registers and newly release DVDs. The employee said the security camera showed two suspects walking back and forth from the newly released DVD aisle toward the east rear exit door.

The employee described one of the suspects from the security tape as a white male, medium build wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He described the other suspect as either a Hispanic or a black male, medium build and wearing a dark-colored jacket, police said. Laptop disappears

Police met with an employee of Standard Pacific Homes in the Hopyard office, who led the officer to a small storage room behind the front counter that is used to store delivered items for the business.

The employee stated that she last saw the laptop, which was to be given to an employee, on Feb. 28. The employee said she noticed the laptop and case missing at 8:36 a.m. March 2.

The employee said she had contacted the employee the computer was intended for, who had not received it.
