(February 04, 2005) Should Pleasanton follow Livermore's lead in prohibiting smoking in public parks?
Asked at the Pleasanton Tennis Park
Elaine Hall
San Ramon
Yes. I have two children and tell them it's a bad thing to do, and it doesn't help to see people standing around them smoking in front of them. Also, seeing the cigarette butts all over the park isn't a good thing for babies and little ones.
Leslie O'Neill
Valley Trails
Absolutely! I don't want my small child exposed to cigarette smoke. If people want to smoke, they can do so on their own time, in their own home or own yard. The rest of us don't need to be exposed to it.
Tommy Houston
Corte Blanca
I think they should prohibit it. It's a bad influence on little kids, seeing older people smoke, and it's just not the direction we want to go.
Steve Williams
Paseo San Leon
I'd say no. I'd say it's up to the individual at the park. With an open-air park, there is enough fresh air. If someone doesn't like it, they can find another location in the park.
Adam Williams
Paseo San Leon
Yes, I think they should because smoking is a drug and you could die more quickly from smoking.
