(February 04, 2005) John Menconi
John Menconi, a resident of Castro Valley, died in Modesto on Jan. 19. He was 80.
He was born in Chicago on Oct. 18, 1924. He moved to Castro Valley 50 years ago and was a candy maker for 40 years. He was an avid golfer, and he also served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 16 years, Violet Menconi; daughter Karen Carbonaro; and brothers Al Menconi and Chuck Menconi.
He is survived by his daughters Janet Kvistad of Pleasanton and Elizabeth Collyer of Dublin; sister Madeline Canale of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.
David Bosworth Troup
David Bosworth Troup, 43, a resident of Livermore, died Jan. 20 in Pleasanton.
He was born in Castro Valley on Aug. 31, 1961, and moved to Livermore when he was 2. He played baseball and was in Little League and in the Cub Scouts in his younger years. He attended Granada High School.
He enjoyed tinkering and building things, and also loved drag racing, boating and fishing.
He is survived by Carol Jacobson, his wife of 10 years; his parents, Kenneth and Patricia Troup of Livermore; his sisters Carolyn Coehlo of Pleasanton and Jane Troup of Livermore; and his brother Kenneth L. Troup of Livermore.
Services were held at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore. Memorial gifts may be made to the East County Animal Shelter, 4595 Gleason Drive, Dublin 94568.
