An unknown suspect broke into a Lancer parked on Evelyn Court, sometime between 9 p.m. Jan. 24 and 4:30 a.m. Jan. 25, resulting in $200 damage to the car and about $200 for a missing stereo faceplate.

Police reported that at about 4:30 a.m. an officer on patrol noticed a gold Lancer with the driver side front window smashed. He contacted the owner, who said his daughter was the last person to drive the car and had returned home at approximately 9 p.m. the previous evening.

The driver's side window was smashed, the glove compartment left open, and there was no faceplate on the stereo, according to the police report. The victim said she had left her purse in the car, but it was not taken and all of the contents were intact.

The owner of the residence informed police that he had a surveillance camera set up above his garage door. The tapes have been booked into evidence, and the case is being forwarded to investigations. Bolts don't stop thief

A thief disassembled a truck rack and stole it from a Quarry Lane company truck between the evening of Jan. 24 and early morning Jan. 25.

The victim said he had secured his vehicle in the rear of his business, located in the 1200 block of Quarry Lane, at 6:30 p.m. the night of Jan. 24, according to the police report.

The victim said upon returning the next morning at 9 a.m., he discovered that someone had removed the bed liner from the bed of his truck and the truck rack was missing. The suspect unscrewed the bolts and removed the truck rack, which the victim said weighed approximately 400 pounds, according to the police report.

The victim pointed out that the suspect left behind the ladders, and no entry was made into the vehicle.
