SWAT teams bust meth lab in Happy Valley

Pleasanton police arrested three people in the early morning Jan. 19 on suspicion of drug activities in the Happy Valley neighborhood after six months of investigation.

What began as a neighborhood complaint of frequent narcotic activity at a residence in the 1100 block of Happy Valley Road turned into the discovery of a clandestine lab capable of producing methamphetamine, said police.

The Police Department narcotics unit conducted several hours of surveillance of two residences, said police, which resulted in numerous traffic stops and arrests of people coming from those addresses who were in violation of narcotic laws.

Detectives with search warrants located several chemicals, compounds and material used for the manufacture of methamphetamine at a residence in the 6400 block of Alisal Street. James Hayes, 37, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a methamphetamine clandestine lab and counterfeit money, two $50 bills and one $20 bill, said police.

Combined SWAT teams from Pleasanton, Livermore and Alameda County served a search warrant at a home in the 1100 block of Happy Valley Road, also on Wednesday morning last week. Police arrested Fred Dorrance, 57, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale, and Cynthia Blackwell, 38, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

A little over 11 grams of crystal meth was seized from the Happy Valley address, police said. Thief cleans out Suburban

A woman working out at ClubSport the morning of Jan. 17 became a burglary victim when an unknown person broke into her Suburban and took items valued at $935.

The victim told police that she had parked the Suburban in the west parking lot near the driveway entrance at about 7:30 a.m. The victim reported that she locked her doors and entered the club.

At approximately 9 a.m., the victim received a page from the front desk, according to the police report, and when she contacted the front desk, she was told someone had broken into her Suburban. The victim stated she then walked out to her vehicle to find the left rear door shattered, with the doors still locked.

The police report said the only item the victim noticed missing was a gray bag containing dirty laundry that needed to be dry-cleaned. The value of the contents was approximately $935, and the damage to the window was estimated at $300.

Pleasanton police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 931-5100.
