Foothill's record improved to 6-0 overall, 1-0 EBAL. The Falcons took a commanding 26-5 lead after seven matches, but California fought back to tie it up. At 103 pounds, sophomore Kellen Aura pinned his opponent in 25 seconds to help the Falcons pull ahead. The team went on to finish third at Saturday's Gary Bianchini Memorial Invitational in Cupertino, with Aura winning the lone title. Phil Boyer finished second in the 119-pound final, while Tommy Wipfli (125) took third, and Kyle Brierly (152) and Phil Mishaga (heavyweight) finished fourth in their weight classes.
Amador's varsity team fell to the powerful Granada team 60-12 in its league opener. Alex Boyovich at 189 pounds and Corey Dehl at 215 won for Amador. At Saturday's San Ramon Valley Invitational, Elliott Ripley at 125 took second for the Dons.
Foothill's second varsity squad had an impressive showing at the Granada Mat Classic wrestling tournament. Andrew Comisky (130) and Neil Shearer (140) finished third for the team. Joey Mantor, Theo Dutrow, Pat Janes and Mark Kanakis also came away with match wins on the day.

Megan Weir contributed three shots on goal, while Jenny Morss and McCarthy both had a pair. Kim Learned, Brooke Silva and Stephanie Crisostomo all had good shots but the Dons had to settle for the lone score.
