Jennifer Hughes & Joseph Spinelli

Jennifer Hughes is engaged to marry Joseph Spinelli in San Francisco in 2006, the date to be set later. The couple became engaged on July 27 during a hot air balloon flight over Napa Valley.

Jennifer is the daughter of Maureen Haber of San Ramon and also of Ernest Hughes of Pleasanton. She graduated from Foothill High School and the University of Notre Dame. She is currently serving in the U.S. Navy as an ensign and is assigned to the USS Ashland in Little Creek, Va. In the summer, she will attend the Navy's Nuclear Power School.

Joseph is the son of Michael Spinelli of Orlando, Fla., and Maria Fernandez of Winter Garden, Fla. He graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Winter Park High School and from the U.S. Naval Academy. He plans to attend the College of William & Mary next fall and pursue a law degree. He is currently a lieutenant assigned to the USS Jarrett in San Diego. Melissa Wallace & Rob Roman

Melissa Erin Wallace and Rob Roman are engaged to be married July 2. The wedding and the reception will be held at the home of the bride's parents in Rancho Santa Fe.

Melissa is the daughter of John and Christine Wallace of Rancho Santa Fe. She graduated from Community High School in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1994 and also from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., in 1998. She is currently in the nursing program at De Anza College and will graduate in June.

Rob is the son of Bob and Jane Roman of Pleasanton. He is a 1993 Foothill High graduate and also graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1998. He is currently a supervisor in the biochem department at Genentech in South San Francisco.

Following a honeymoon in Spain, France and Italy, the couple will make their home in Los Altos.
