(December 17, 2004) Three suffer injury from scaffolding fall
Police and firefighters responded to a 9:59 a.m. call Dec. 11 alerting them to three construction workers who were injured when a scaffolding fell in the 900 block of Laguna Creek Lane.
Gustavo Gonzalez, 26, his brother Juan Gonzalez, 17, and Victor Nunez, 20, all of San Jose, were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. The elder Gonzalez's left ankle was injured; his brother suffered an injury to his leg; and Nunez suffered a head injury, police said.
The construction workers, who were working for Greenbriar Homes, were on scaffolding inside a home and fell when the scaffold collapsed, police said. The men fell about 12 feet.
Burglar bags $63,800
A home burglary netted a crook $63,800 in jewelry and cash last Friday.
Police were called to a home near Hopyard Road about 9:40 p.m. The victim told responding officers that she had left home about 9:10 a.m. and had returned about 9:40 p.m. Upon return, she noticed the rear sliding glass door was ajar and several cabinet doors were open. Suspecting a burglary, the victim called police and left the home immediately, staying at a neighbor's home until police arrived and secured the home.
Police reported that the victim said she had hidden jewelry and cash in a crawl space behind the bed in the master bedroom. An empty bag, which held the cache, was found on the bed.
