Trinkets snatched from dresser

A daytime crook broke into a home and grabbed $3,380 in jewelry from a bedroom dresser before escaping Oct. 25.

A resident reported to police that an unknown person broke a bedroom window of her home in west Pleasanton sometime after she had left at 8:30 a.m.

The victim told police she found her window unlocked and opened when she returned at 1:30 p.m. The responding police officer found that the suspect had broken the window, leaving glass both inside and outside of the house, police said.

The officer also noted a piece of broken metal wedged in the window frame. Outside on the ground, the officer found two small garden spades, one with its tip broken, matching the piece wedged in the frame.

The officer also found a shoe print on the east side of the yard outside the home. Burglar bags boards

An open garage door overnight Oct. 24 cost a resident $1,300 in snowboards and tools.

The victim told police that she and her husband had returned to their home about 10 p.m. last Saturday and forgot to close the garage door.

The following morning, as the victim went outside to pick up the newspaper, she discovered the open door and that a pair of snowboards was missing. Also reported missing were some tools that were stored in carrying cases, police said. The snowboards had been left in the corner near the garage door and the tools had been stored in the rear of the garage. The case was forwarded to investigations.
