The Ballistic United Under-16 Black 89 team finished second in last weekend's Ballistic Fall Classic Tournament.

Ballistic added a second unassisted goal by Nestor Negrete, followed by a David Norton goal on an assist from Stefano Corbosiero.

Corbosiero notched the final goal on an unassisted effort with a rocket into the upper left corner as the team posted a 4-0 victory.

The next game found the team pitted against Castro Valley. Ballistic gave up an early goal and quickly found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime.

Negrete converted a penalty kick at the two-minute mark of the second half, tying the game.

The game remained tight with back and forth play until Barry Moore scored on a full-extension header after Norton's pass, enabling Ballistic to post the 2-1 win.

The championship match found Black 89 facing Ballistic Black 88 in a formidable struggle.

Anoop Takhar played strong, making several big saves in the second half to keep their competitors scoreless.

Rage U13 falls short of championship battle

After allowing one goal in their three qualifying games in the WESCO Apple Classic, the Pleasanton Rage Under-13 Division 3 girls fell short of playing in the championship or consolation game last weekend.

With a final record of 1-1-1, the Rage finished two points away from qualifying to play in one of the tournament's final games.

The Rage started the weekend with a 3-0 victory over WESCO host Blue Lightening.

Christine Gilbert scored once and Julia Frizzell notched up two more goals.

In their second game on Saturday, the Rage battled a strong Mill Valley team, Fusion, to within 90 seconds of a 0-0 tie.

A last minute goal by the Fusion handed the Rage their only defeat of the weekend.

Pleasanton Rage U15 D3 girls stumble at Soc-Com tourney

The Pleasanton Rage Under-15 Division 3 team started out strong, but could not finish and dropped two of three games in the Hanford Soc-ComTournament last weekend.

Taking on the host in the opener, the Rage did not play the part of a polite guest and dominated Hanford in a 3-0 win.

In spite of putting the pressure on Hanford early, the Rage struggled for solid play and could not finish their chances throughout the first half and three plus minutes into the second half.

The Rage finally broke through when Ashley Royer converted a penalty kick following a handball in the box.

Alicia Fraticelli started the action on Pleasanton's second goal, when she intercepted a goal kick and passed it to Jamie Thurman.

Angie Macaulay converted Thurman's pass into a goal and a 2-0 Rage lead.

Megan Gomez capped the scoring, taking a Fraticelli corner kick and putting it into the net.

The team got only an hour's rest before being put to the test again, facing a tough Lemoore competitor, who proved to be more than the Rage could handle as the team fell 3-0.

Although, the Rage had the bulk of the opportunities in its final game against Livermore on Sunday, the team could not find the net, with the game ending 1-0.
