Donald Wade Rose

Donald Wade Rose died Sept. 14. He was 72.

Born in New Castle, Wyo., on April 29, 1932, he lived in various places throughout the United States, including New York, Arizona and Washington before settling in Pleasanton, living here for 10 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54 and was in the Signal Battalion.

He was a thoroughbred horseman, both training and owning horses. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing.

He is survived by his brother, Lester Clarence Rose of Cottonwood, Calif.; and two nephews, Lester Rose Jr. and Clay Rose.

A memorial service will be held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5. A reception will follow at the Stable Cafˇ at the Pleasanton race track with access through Gate 12.

Longtime Pleasanton resident Vincent Frevola, 83, died Sept. 7.

Born on Sept. 18, 1920, he graduated from Livermore High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from UC Berkeley.

A Pleasanton resident for more than 60 years, he had a private accounting practice here for more than 50 years.

He was a member of the Alameda County Assessor Appeals board for 15 years and on the State Board of Equalization for 20 years. He was also a member of SIRS, the Honor Society of Public Accountants and the Cal Alumni Association.

Among his hobbies, he enjoyed golfing and traveling and was a sports enthusiast.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Jeanette Frevola; a son, Randy Sekany of Pleasanton; four daughters, Cindy Engel of Livermore, Denean Gable of Roseville, Nancy Strohmeyer of Los Gatos, and Marianne Sekany of Pleasanton; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Hope Hospice or to the American Lung Association.
