(October 01, 2004) Buffet book sale all weekend will benefit library
by Teresa C. Brown
The Friends of the Pleasanton Library is holding its semiannual fundraising book sale this weekend at the library.
The sale will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday in the library's large meeting room at 400 Old Bernal Ave.
A preview sale exclusively for members of the Friends of the Library will be held 7-9 p.m. tonight, and new memberships will be accepted at the door.
With thousands of fiction and nonfiction books amassed, in paper and hardback, everything is priced at 50 cents to a dollar. Some collectible books may be priced higher, depending on value.
The fall book sale is the second of two held annually by the Friends of the Pleasanton Library to raise funds for the library. During its spring book sale, the group raised $15,398 in book sales, plus $2,061 in membership fees.
The funds raised are used for library programs and equipment as well as supplements to the library's collection.
Friends of the library also serve as volunteers for programs such as Delivery Service to the Homebound and Books by Mail. For volunteer information for Delivery Service, call 931-3404; for Books by Mail, call 931-3408.
