Fair journalism

Editor,

It looks as though you may have lost a reader in Matt Sullivan, but then again what is the loss of one reader when you match that against fair journalism and reporting both sides of issues. David WaldenBelleza Drive Education not lawsuits

Editor,

I appreciate the Pleasanton Weekly's recent article covering Signature Properties' view of the litigation with the School District. It was refreshing to hear this side of the story.

It is unfortunate for the community that the builder and the Pleasanton School District are not able to come to an amicable resolution. I do not believe litigation would be beneficial, as it would be costly and further damage relationships. As a parent I hope that we concentrate our resources on educating the children and not on lawsuits. Kelly BosuegoTessa Place Build 'natural park' on Bernal

Editor,

I agree wholeheartedly with Marilyn Kane's idea to build a "Lithia-type" park on the Bernal Property.

I fear that Pleasanton will be a sea of parks with plastic play equipment, fenced-in dugouts and cement sidewalks if we don't start planting trees (not in a tidy row) and building trails. This is especially important given the recently approved water park at Shadow Cliffs.

We visited Ashland once, during the frigid month of February. Despite the damp chilly air my daughter still talks fondly about Ashland. "Can we move there someday?" It wasn't the quaint bookstore or cozy coffee shop that captured our imagination. It was Lithia Park - the creek, bridge, formal gardens, duck ponds, trees, winter ice rink, etc.

Please support efforts to build a natural park in Pleasanton that offers a refuge from the artificial-looking parks that are sprinkled throughout the city. Meggan McEvoyAlvarado Street P.S. I'm sorry a fast-food restaurant was placed at the city's entrance on Bernal; I hope this doesn't set the tone for the property. Memorial Day thanks

Editor,

I want to thank all the Valley residents who came out to view the restored WWII bombers at Livermore Airport on Memorial Day. We had a tremendous crowd visiting the aircraft and everyone was very co-operative while waiting in line (in the sun) to tour through the planes. Our veteran volunteers were pleased by the interest you showed, the time you took to ask them questions about their experiences, and the way you honored them. The Collings Foundation members, who fly the planes, were very pleased and assured us they will be here again on Memorial Day 2005. Your donations help to keep these planes flying and visiting many more people than they could if they were just static in a museum somewhere. And my thanks to Hampton Inn and Codoroli motors for their support with hotel and vans, and to the other aircraft owners who came out to display with us. Mick HanouSandpiper Way
