Cops seek witness to hit-and-run

A hit-and-run driver struck a female bicyclist May 27 while she was pedaling about 11 a.m. on the shoulder of Foothill Road near Moller Ranch Drive.

The victim told police that a beige or gold metallic-colored sedan traveling southbound hit her as it passed. She lost control of her bike and fell on the road, suffering minor injuries. The victim told police that an unknown witness stopped and told her that she would follow the suspect and call police. The witness, who was described as an older black female, has not come forward, said Officer Eric Fredgren, who is investigating the felony incident.

Anyone with information about the identity of the hit-and-run driver or who witnessed the incident should contact Fredgren at 931-5100, Ext. 4161. Crook splits door jam for entry

A burglar kicked open a door May 26 to a residence in west Pleasanton, causing $200 in damages before stealing $147 in property.

Police reported that when the victim had left the home about 9:30 a.m., all of the doors and windows were locked. About 3:30 p.m., the victim's son returned home and discovered the front door was unlocked and ajar.

The victim told police that the unknown suspect had emptied dresser drawers, scattering clothes in one bedroom. A necklace and pens were taken from the drawers. A sports medal was also stolen from a bedroom, police said. The front door jam was split into two pieces and the molding from the inside of the door had been jarred loose. Police believe the suspect kicked the door open, splitting the door jam. Waiting to be claimed
