Scout Awards
(May 07, 2004) Anthony Bedegi
Anthony Bedegi, the son of Mary Jane and Peter Bedegi, received his Eagle Scout Award recently, the only boy from his class at Sunol Glen School, where he joined Troop 912. His Eagle Scout project was installing a series of water flow diverters in the Agustine Bernal Park to protect the trail and hillsides from water erosion. The team he assembled used its collective muscle power to pound yards of pipe into the hard clay hillside. He is a senior at Foothill High, and plans to attend a university in California after graduation.
Kasey Topp
Kasey Topp, a senior at Amador Valley High School, has earned her Gold Award in Girl Scouting. Prior to a mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico, with the youth group from Valley Community Church, she collected more than 500 pieces of soccer equipment, which she cleaned, packed and distributed as her Gold Award project. She said many of the excited children wore their soccer shoes to Vacation Bible School every day. Topp, a member of Troop 3999 for 12 years, will attend UCLA in the fall. Her troop also refurbished two bedrooms at Tri-Valley Haven's homeless shelter.
