(May 07, 2004) Shirley Knapp
Pleasanton resident Shirley Knapp died April 22 at Pleasanton Health Care Center. She was 79.
Born in San Francisco on May 10, 1924, she lived in that city for 39 years. The homemaker had been a Pleasanton resident for a year, and prior to that, she lived in Pacifica for 37 years.
She will be remembered as a warm and loving person, who always put others before herself.
She leaves five children, Don Knapp of Heber City, Utah, Tom Knapp of Dublin, Jerry Knapp of Antelope, Calif., Paul Knapp of Hayward, and Sharon Knapp of San Bruno; three brothers, Frank Sawyer of San Francisco, Ed Sawyer of Daly City and Tom Sawyer of Pleasanton; and 11 grandchildren.
Her husband, Donald W. Knapp, preceded her in death on March 1, 1999, in Pacifica.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road in Colma.
Joseph B. Perez Jr.
Joseph B. Perez Jr., a 16-year Pleasanton resident, died April 17. He was 76.
A Hayward native born on Oct. 29, 1927, he lived in that city for 60 years before moving to Pleasanton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46 and was a retired plumbing contractor.
He was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, the Hayward Rotary Club and the Hayward Historical Society, and he served on the Alameda County Fair board.
Among his hobbies, he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Irmgard; three sons, Bruce, Scott and Bob; two daughters-in-law, Liz and Sally; one brother; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family.
A service was held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary and a private burial was held. Memorial donations may be made to Cleft Palate, in care of NSGW, 414 Mason St., San Francisco 94102.
