Crook with an antique eye

An unknown suspect took advantage of an unlocked storage shed on Neal Street, stealing $3,700 in property sometime between March 1 and April 17.

The victim reported to police that she used the shed, located behind a garage, to store antiques and clothing. The victim said she went to the shed about 10 a.m. April 17 for some clothing and noticed that several dresses were missing. She began looking around and discovered other missing property, such as two antique chairs, cups and a ladle matching a silverware set, police said. She told police the shed was not secured. From appearances, police said they believe the thief entered the shed and took some property while leaving other valuable items untouched. Double smash hit

It was a double hit for a resident in east Pleasanton overnight April 19, when a thief smashed the front passenger windows in two vehicles and spirited away $530 in personal property while causing $400 in damages.

Police reported that the residents had parked their 2000 Jeep Cherokee in front of the home and their 1998 Honda Accord in the driveway April 19 and last saw them that evening about 6 p.m.; they discovered the following morning that both cars had been broken into. The thief stole a backpack, containing a digital CD player, athletic shoes, headphones and three CDs, from the Jeep; and a shoulder bag holding $50, reading glasses, sunglasses, a calculator and a passport from the car. Kiosk loss

A Stoneridge Shopping Center kiosk was the site for a swift crime April 20, leaving a sales employee with a $890 loss when her fanny pack was stolen.

The San Jose victim told police she left her fanny pack in a Tupperware kiosk about 10 a.m. She said she placed a chair against the kiosk door, explaining that the lock was broken, police said. Prior to discovering the crime about 3 p.m., the victim left the kiosk about eight times to go to the backroom to get more Tupperware and twice to use the restroom, police said. Each time, she left the fanny pack unattended.
