Home & Garden
(April 30, 2004) Welcoming the spring
In this issue, we visit the home of John and Virginia Madden, set on 2-1/2 acres of lovely spring gardens. The Maddens are perhaps Pleasanton's most famous couple, due to his coaching of the Oakland Raiders and NFL broadcasting, not to mention his sports talk on KCBS. They've contributed to the community in many ways since making it their home in 1966 and recently put much energy toward preserving an important piece of Pleasanton's past - the Agustin Bernal Adobe. We also tour an English Tudor home on St. John Street, plus offer hints to help make everyone's home more attractive and liveable.
