(April 16, 2004) Should the Livermore Airport be expanded?

I don't think we need to add more noise or congestion in the air over Pleasanton or Livermore. Unless there's a compelling reason to expand it, which I haven't heard, I think we can pass on this one.

It's been a controversial question for so many years, but I don't think it needs to be expanded. There are just too many homes built up all around there to allow for any more expansion.
Don Keith
Livermore
I think they should go ahead and expand the airport. To complain about the airport being there when it was there when you bought your house doesn't make any sense to me.
Linda Sexton
Livermore
I'm definitely against it. I live under the flight path and it's like 600 flights a day. These flights can be scary and disruptive. I've seen the airport expand as much as it should; frankly, I'd like to see it moved to the other side of the freeway.

As a real estate broker at UCB, I have to think about my customers as well as those of us who already live here. People move here to get away from noise and congestion. We don't need more jets. I'm for keeping the airport the way it is.
