PPIE names five recipients

The Pleasanton Partnerships in Education (PPIE) Foundation named five student awardees for its second cycle of grants for 2003-04.

Grant recipients are: € Nicholas Edelman, Amador Valley High, $500 for an autonomous underwater vehicle for the Robotics Club's submarine project and competition. € Clayton Goetz, Vintage Hills Elementary, $100 to help start the Dragon's Scale School Newspaper. € Matthew Klein III, Amador Valley High, $324 for a ceramic scale and raku firing kit to create raku ceramics. € Robin Mostardi, Foothill High, $225 to help fund the application and regional entry fees for the Destination Imagination competition. € Amy Newton, Foothill High, $500 to fund the Every 15 Minutes anti-drinking and driving program.

The organization's guidelines require applications to be student-authored, to have a teacher sponsor and the principal's approval.

PPIE is accepting applications from school district employees for its enrichment grants for up to $2,500 to financially assist student-focused projects that promote creativity and innovative thinking. The deadline for enrichment grants is 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 21. Applications are available online at www.ppie.org or call 846-5620.
