Harvest Park Middle School came out on top at the East Bay Coastal League Tournament last weekend with 11 middle schools competing for individual and team championships. Harvest Park captured the eighth-grade team championship title, and its sixth-grade team placed fourth.

The eighth-grade team had six in the finals and was led by team captain and three-time league champion JR Souza; two-time league champion Brenden Hamilton; and first-year league champions Rick Cook and Andre Green. Second-place finishers were Justin Maslana and Andrew White. Third-place were Eric Napier, Nick Glasco, Oliver Garcia and David Stone. Harvest Park captured first place with 97 points; second place was California School of Deaf with 67 points; and third was Creekside with 63 points.

Harvest Park's seventh-grade team with 45 points finished fifth behind first-place Creekside with 76 points, second-place Bancroft with 66 points, and third-place Albany with 61 points. Harvest Park only had four wrestlers but three were in the championship finals. Alex Herzfeldt won his second league championship, and Danny Flanagan won his first league title. Paul Beniar finished with a second place. Tony Ornelas finished with a third place.

Harvest Park's sixth-grade team was in a three-way tie going into the finals but came up short, placing fourth with 66 points. Harvest Park had two individual champions: Paul Buscarello and Mitchel Grimes. Second-place finishers were Louis Desprez, Conneor Veit and Matthew Martin. Fourth-place finishers were Andrew Oefelen and Max Aguliar. Mitchel Grimes was voted the most valuable sixth-grade wrestler.
