Going, going, April Fools! Going, going, April Fools! (April 09, 2004)

"The price tag is not bad, and we could use the money," said John Casey, school district superintendent, but Foothill High is not for sale.

An enthusiastic, albeit anonymous, sales pitch listed the school up for grabs on eBay, a popular online auction site, for a couple of days this week. Posted online April 4, the school garnered at least 45 bids with a hopeful price of $99,999,999 before eBay caught on to the hoax and yanked the listing. The unknown seller cited "budget cuts" as the reason for the sale, exclaiming, "Everything must go!! Good luck and happy bidding!"
