Sexual assault suspect sought

Police are searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman Saturday night as she was cleaning windows at an office building at 5674 Stoneridge Drive.

Police reported that the 36-year-old victim was outside cleaning windows shortly before 1 a.m. when the suspect grabbed her arm. The man ripped the victim's shirt open and "fondled her breasts," police said.

The victim, who was not injured in the attack, was able to escape by kicking the suspect, running away and using a cell telephone to call a co-worker, who was inside the building.

The suspect was last seen standing next to a dark sedan with tinted windows parked in the parking lot. Police said both the suspect and the sedan were gone when officers arrived at the scene.

The victim told police that she recognized the suspect from two prior encounters. She said she had seen him several minutes before the attack, when he spoke to her. The victim was outside near a Dumpster when he told her that "she was beautiful," the victim said. He alarmed her and she ran back inside the building to get away from him. The victim also recalled casually speaking to the suspect about a month ago at the Pleasanton BART station.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, age 25-30, with short, wavy brown hair. He has a medium build, is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighs about 150 pounds. The victim said he was clean-shaven, did not wear glasses, and was wearing a black sweater.

Police said there have not been any assaults similar to this one reported in the area recently.

Police arrested a 28-year-old Oakland man Sunday, charging him with four felony counts involving the kidnapping of an 18-year-old woman. The suspect, Kenyatta Island, was charged with kidnapping with the intent to rape, assault with the intent to rape, felony battery and false imprisonment.

He was arrested when police responded to a call that a woman who was staying at Motel Six, 5102 Hopyard Road, needed help. Police said she had been kidnapped by the suspect, who was described as her former boyfriend. The victim had been battered and had facial lacerations that were treated at ValleyCare Medical Center, police said.

Police said they believe the suspect brought the victim to the motel with the intent to rape her. Island was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
