Winegrowers name officers
(February 27, 2004) Carolyn Wente to lead board
Carolyn Wente of Wente Family Estates was named president of the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association during its annual meeting Feb. 4. Wente succeeds outgoing President Sblend Sblendorio who had held the position for three years.
Other officers elected to the board include Darcie Kent, of Darcie Kent Vineyards, vice president; Mike Wood of Wood Family Vineyards, treasurer; and Jennifer Fazio of Tamas Estates and the Steve Kent Winery, secretary. Board members are Linda Ault of Cedar Mountain Winery; Sandi Bohner of Little Valley Vineyard; Thomas Coyne of Thomas Coyne Winery; and Lanny Replogle of Fenestra Winery.
The association also presented Sblendorio with its 2003 Member of the Year Award among the leadership awards presented to members. Other members honored include Chris Tarantino and his family, of C. Tarantino Vineyards, for fighting the vine mealy bug infestation; Alicia Katz of Mitchell Katz Winery at Ruby Hill, who received the marketing leadership award; and Linda Ault, the education leadership award.
The LVWA was formed in 1981 and has since grown to include members from 26 wineries, 40 growers and 50 community businesses.
