Theft leaves ACE ticketed off

A Swiss-made power supply unit on an ACE Train station ticket machine was snatched sometime from Feb. 2-18 while part of the machine was being repaired, costing the transit company $1,200.

Clifford Smith, a supervisor with San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission in Stockton, reported the theft to police Feb. 19. He told police that about 2 p.m. Feb. 2 the head unit on a ticket machine at the 4950 Pleasanton Ave. stop had been removed for repairs. The power unit was left unsecured and out of service with a bag covering the machine, police said. Smith said the theft was discovered about 7:30 a.m. Feb. 18. Smith told police the suspect could have reached into the ticket machine and removed the power unit. Police reported there was no damage to the machine. Thief wheels away from tireless car

Police reported that a victim lost the tires and wheels of her 2003 Honda to a thief, who wheeled away $1,020 in property from the 6200 block of Stoneridge Mall Road overnight Feb. 16.

The victim, a Martinez resident, told police she parked and locked her car about 11 p.m. When she returned to her vehicle about 7:40 a.m. the following day, she found her car sitting on a pair of jacks, and all four tires and wheels were missing, police said. The jacks did not belong to the victim and there were no signs of forced entry to the car. Although neighbors were contacted, no one saw or heard anything suspicious, police said. Window smashing costs tools

Shattering a van's window sometime from Feb. 13-17, an unknown thief gained access to a vehicle belonging to a local business on Boulder Court, leaving the business with a $1,852 loss in property and damages.

Scott Nyhagen, a service technician for Systems and Space Inc., reported to police that he discovered the smashed window on the 1997 Ford Econoline 250 van at 7 a.m. Feb. 17. Police said the front passenger window was shattered and the passenger-side door on the van was left open. Nyhagen said the van had been ransacked and both the vehicle's insurance card and registration were missing as well as several tools. The tools did not have any identifying marks, except a yellow extension cord, which had the name "Pepe" written on it, police said. Nyhagen told police he had left the van parked and locked behind the business about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13.
