Frances Grace Hilke

Longtime Livermore resident Frances Grace Hilke died Jan. 22. She was 84. Born in San Francisco on April 13, 1919, she moved to Livermore in 1944 and graduated from San Jose State. She was a third- and fourth-grade teacher for Fifth Street School.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and of the Northern California Multiple Sclerosis Society and the San Jose State Alumni Association.

She leaves her husband of 54 years, Albert W. Hilke; a son, Fred Hilke of Pleasanton; two granddaughters, Lisa Hilke of Livermore and Jennifer Hilke of Pleasanton.

Private burial services were held. Memorial donations may be made to the Northern California Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society, 150 Grand Ave., Oakland 94612. Ione Yvonne Tenney Reichlin

Ione Yvonne Tenney Reichlin died Jan. 22. She was 90. Born in Berkeley on Jan. 30, 1913, she was a second-generation native Californian and graduated from Berkeley High School in 1931. She was a Pleasanton resident for 17 years; prior to that, she lived in Santa Rosa for 10 years.

A homemaker, she was a fun-loving person who never met a stranger. She loved to dance, gamble, play cards and bingo, make crafts and work on crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful cook and she always loved a good joke. Her family will miss their "Cookie Grandma."

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janet Reichlin of Pleasanton; a granddaughter and her husband, Lori and Bill Bailey of Patterson; a grandson, Michael Reichlin of Elk Grove; three great-grandchildren and cousins, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank P. Reichlin, in 1993.

Mary Stuart Bagley Bauge, a 42-year Pleasanton resident, died in her home Jan. 23. She was 87 and had been living with heart disease since having a heart attack in April 2003.

She was born on May 24, 1916, in Audubon, Iowa, and, in 1938, she graduated from the University of Iowa, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority member. She married Robert J. Bauge on June 6, 1942. Her husband was sent to Europe during World War II and when he returned, they moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, and later to Indiana before settling in Pleasanton in 1962. Her husband managed Jackson & Perkins Roses, and Mary worked as a technical librarian at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for 20 years.

Active in the community, she was a member of the Pleasanton Women's Club and was a 60-year member of the P.E.O. She was also active at the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Presbyterian Women.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Mathew, Carol Draizen and Margie Bauge; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1975.

A memorial service was held at the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd., Pleasanton 94566. Mary Travis Ryan

Mary Travis Ryan died in Pleasanton on Jan. 24. She was 79.

Born in Newark, Ark., on Aug. 1, 1924, to T.A. and Mattie Travis, she was the fifth of seven children. She attended the University of Denver from 1954-55 and she married Dr. Barnard D. "Pat" Ryan on Jan. 8, 1943.

She and her husband lived part of the year in Louisville, Colo., and in Pleasanton during the winter. They have spent the last 14 winters in Pleasanton.

She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother, and she was active at the Boulder Valley Church of Christ for 34 years.

She leaves her husband; two children, Sharon Burgard of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and David Ryan of Pleasanton; two sisters; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Ryan, who died in an automobile accident when he was 19 in 1966; one brother and three sisters.

A memorial service was held at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, Colo., and she was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, Colo.
