(February 06, 2004) Pleasanton-SFO service stops Monday
Effective Monday, BART will halt direct service from the Dublin/Pleasanton station to the San Francisco Airport (SFO) because of low ridership. The Pittsburg/Bay Point line, which currently provides service from the East Bay directly to Millbrae, will instead go directly into the BART/SFO station. During non-peak periods (9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7 p.m.-midnight) Pittsburg/Bay Point trains will continue from SFO to Millbrae, then return to the East Bay.
During peak periods (6-9 a.m. and 3:30-7 p.m.), the Richmond line, which currently terminates at Daly City, will continue to Millbrae then on to the BART/SFO station. Richmond trains will then return to the East Bay via Millbrae. Under the new schedule, Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont trains will go to Daly City and return.
Share school concerns
School Superintendent John Casey will hold three community forums to give parents and interested persons an opportunity to discuss issues or concerns with him.
The forums will be held from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Pleasanton Senior Center, 5353 Sunol Blvd.; and from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, and Monday, March 1, at the Pleasanton Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave.
Diablo Valley Bank opens on Main
The newly formed Diablo Valley Bank has opened in Danville and at 300 Main St. in Pleasanton. The full-service bank with online banking and courier service occupies the building formerly owned by Bayview Bank, which was purchased by U.S. Bank. Officers at the Pleasanton facility are Margie Perry, vice president and branch manager, and Cheryl Noble Llewellyn, vice president and customer relationship manager. The bank is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and until 6 p.m. on Fridays.
At the same time, Jack Hounslow, DVB's board chairman, announced that the bank has purchased the vacated CoCo's restaurant building at 387 Diablo Road in Danville, which will be razed and replaced with a new structure that will house DVB's headquarters now in Alamo and its Danville bank at 402 Railroad Ave. Hounslow said DVB paid $2.6 million for the 29,000-square-foot restaurant property in downtown Danville.
