Kathy Edwards

Kathy Edwards, 56, died from diabetes complications on Dec. 18 at ValleyCare Medical Center. The 29-year Pleasanton resident was born on July 5, 1947, in Huntington Park, Calif. She was raised in South Gate, where she graduated from South Gate High School in 1965.

On Dec. 11, 1965, she married Terry Edwards, and in 1974, her family moved to Pleasanton. For 12 years, she was a volunteer for the Pleasanton National Little League, where she served in many capacities, including head of fundraising and tournament director. She also was a teacher's aide at Alisal Elementary School and a Tri-Valley Haven volunteer. A dog lover, she also worked with the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, providing dogs with a foster home. She worked at Providian Financial Corp. as a credit representative.

She leaves her husband; her mother, Frances Kincade of Grass Valley; her children, Chad Edwards and his wife Tamara of Lathrop, and Mark Edwards and his partner Tim Jorge of Walnut Creek; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael; her brother Michael Kincade and her father Louis Kincade. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 11143, Pleasanton 94588.
