(October 10, 2003) Frank Boic
Frank Boic, a 24-year Pleasanton resident, died in his home Sept. 18. He was 87. Born on Aug. 14, 1916, in Sharon, Penn., he worked for the Garrett Freight Lines in Emeryville for 28 years. He moved from Castro Valley to Pleasanton when he retired in 1979.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Pleasanton SIRS and a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Mary Boic; a son, Gregory Boic of Capitola; a daughter, Renee Goodrich of Pleasanton; and two grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Martinez Kaiser Hospice, 200 Muir Road, Martinez 94553.
William Garrett McKinley
William Garrett McKinley, 77, died Sept. 25. Born in Jersey City, N.J., on Aug. 28, 1926, he was a graduate of Upsala College, Orange, N.J. A Pleasanton resident for two years, he also resided in Riverdale, N.J., for 27 years. A World War II Army veteran, he was a financial analyst and a member of the American Legion John H. Lookhoff Post 242, Pompton Plains, N.J.
He is survived by a son, William McKinley; two daughters, Kathleen Schults and Patricia McKinley-Roach; one sister, Dorothy Gustafson; and eight grandchildren.
Burial was held at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Glen D. Nolan
Glen D. Nolan died Oct. 2. He was 83.
Born on Nov. 15, 1919, in San Francisco, he graduated from Mission High School. His father, Joseph, was teamster, hauling freight with a team of horses. He joined the Navy and served for four and a half years and was stationed at Treasure Island. While there, he met his wife, Bea Putnam, who was driving a truck during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; eight children, Peggy Wasson, Dan and Sherry Nolan, Bob and Joanne Nolan, Joanie and Charlie Cutchen, Mary Larsen, Bucki and David James, Patty and Donnie Cornett, and Glen and Lorrie Nolan; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers William, Joseph and Harry; and his best friend since first grade, Ray Lunny.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church and burial was at St. Augustine Cemetery.
