Alberta B. Ramicone

Alberta B. Ramicone, a 28-year Pleasanton resident, died June 27. She was 92.

Born in Loop, Penn., on March 29, 1911, she was a registered nurse in Pennsylvania, and during her career she worked as a county midwife, a coal mining nurse and an industrial nurse. She retired from Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Co. in Pittsburgh in 1972.

She was active in the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church women's group and cared for her church's plants. A giving person, she shared homegrown raspberries and flower bouquets and often gave a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.

She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Frederick Walz of Pleasanton; two sisters, Clara Mae Bittinger of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Jane Kimpel, of Sun City, Ariz.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husband of 22 years, Edward T. Ramicone, and son, William Nesbitt, preceded her in death in 1974 and 1941, respectively.

Private services will held at a later date in Smicksburg, Penn., where she will be buried with her son and parents.

Vernon R. Ivins, a 23-year resident of Vineyard Villa mobile home park, died in Walnut Creek on July 3. He was 75.

Born in Pennsylvania on Sept. 26, 1927, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and was employed at the Sandia National Laboratory for 35 years.

He loved bowling and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 23 years, Kathleen "Kay" Ivins; two sons and their wives, Tony and Carrie Ivins of Auburn, and David and April Ivins of Orange Park, Fla.; a stepson and his wife, Steve and Melissa Plaw of Chico; a brother and sister-in-law; six grandchildren and a nephew.

Private funeral services were held. Margaret 'Marge' Trimble

Margaret "Marge" Trimble, a longtime Pleasanton resident, died last month.

Originally from Canada, she retired from the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, where she worked as both a teacher and a counselor at East Avenue Middle and Grenada High schools.

After her retirement, she was active in the Tri-Valley Branch of the California Retired Teachers Association for many years and served as the recording secretary. Among her many interests, she was also an active volunteer at the Pleasanton Senior Center.

She leaves a daughter and granddaughter, both of Salt Lake City.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Tri-Valley Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund, mailed in care of Mary Jane Hyde, Tri-Valley Retired Teachers Scholarships, 7426 Mancini Court, Dublin, CA 94568. Norman C. Nelson

Norman C. Nelson, an eight-year Pleasanton resident, died July 1. He was 91.

Born in New York on Nov. 7, 1911, he retired from Pacific Telephone, where he was a microwave engineer. He was a member of St. Philips Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Eleanor Nelson; two stepsons, John Boehme of Hayden, Idaho, and Dale Boehme of Pleasanton; one brother; and three nephews.

A memorial service was held at St. Philips Lutheran Church and a private burial service was held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, Fair Oaks, Calif.

Carl P. Ganje, a longtime Pleasanton resident, died July 9 at Kaiser Medical Center in Hayward. He was 78.

Born in Karlsruhe, N.D., on June 23, 1925, he served in the U.S. Army in Alaska. He was an aviation mechanic at Alameda Naval Air Station for 30 years and at the Oakland Airport for 15 years.

His first love was playing the accordion, and he was a lifetime member of the Musician Union Local #510. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Carl Michael Ganje of Pleasanton and Leroy Ganje of Livermore; two stepchildren, Harold Renfro of Pleasanton and Ruth Davis of El Sobrante; four brothers; one sister; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His wife of 35 years, Rhuea Ganje, preceded him in death in 1984.

Burial was held at Pleasanton Memorial Gardens.
