(March 15, 2002) Fredrick David Warton
Fredrick David Warton, 50, a building inspector with the city of Pleasanton, died Feb. 28.
Born in Huron, S.D., on Aug. 18, 1951, he was a 1970 graduate of Granada High School.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Warton of Modesto; daughters Rebecca Warton of Santa Cruz, Lindsay Workman of Castro Valley and Shannon Workman of Modesto; son Ryan Workman of Livermore; a sister, Katherine Warton of Livermore; and a brother, Dain Warton of Livermore.
The burial service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Livermore.
Marlene Ann Silva
Marlene Ann Silva, a 12-year Pleasanton resident, died March 1 at the age of 57.
She was a California native and a 1962 graduate of Amador Valley High School. She was employed at Bank of the West in Pleasanton for seven years, and she loved her cat, Magoo.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Mattos of Pleasanton; two daughters, Jamie Taylor of Brentwood and Jessica Clary of Monterey; and four grandchildren.
The burial was held at St. Augustine's Cemetery.
Leon 'Lee' Mittman
Leon "Lee" Mittman, a five-year Pleasanton resident, died March 1. He was 67.
Born Dec. 15, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio, he graduated from the University of Colorado and was a program manager in the technology field for 42 years.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and witty sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Mittman of Pleasanton; two daughters, Ashley Mittman of Pleasanton and Laurie Mittman of New Canaan, Conn.; a son, Bradley Mittman of Long Island, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and his dog, Baron.

Kathryn 'Lavonne' Valentine
Kathryn "Lavonne" Valentine, a 33-year resident of Pleasanton, died March 1 at the age of 63.
She was born in Lincoln City, Okla., in 1938. She received a bachelor's degree in social studies from California State University, Hayward, in 1968, and she was a teacher with the Dublin Unified School District for 27 years, teaching at Wells Middle School for most of her career.
She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Livermore since 1969, and she served as president for AAUW from 1999-2000.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Phillips of Turlock and Lynda Monger of Suisun City; two brothers, Bill Berry of Madera, Calif., and Jim Berry of Texas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Keith" Valentine, who died in 1965.
A service was held at Golden Gate National Cemetery, Livermore. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation, 1390 Market St., San Francisco CA 94102.
Sidney Stark
Sidney Stark, a four-year Pleasanton resident, died of heart failure on March 3. He was 88.
He had resided in Modesto for 30 years and Oakland for 54. He worked for Tri-Valley Growers for 11 years and for F.E. Booth Co. for 32 years before retiring in 1976.
In addition to spending time with his family, he also enjoyed all types of sports.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jon Jakowatz of Pleasanton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Stark, his parents and brothers William R. and Stanley A. Stark.

Helen Troy Cleveland
Helen Troy Cleveland, a three-year Pleasanton resident, died on March 7. She was 86.
Born in St. Louis on June 16, 1915, she was a fashion designer.
She is survived by a son, Robert Natsch of Pleasanton; a sister, Verda Harmon of Summerland Key, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
