(October 26, 2001) Cody Dean
Cody Dean, a lifelong resident of Pleasanton, died Oct. 21 at the age of 18 from an automobile accident.
A senior at Amador Valley High School, he was an accomplished snow boarder. He also enjoyed wake boarding and off-road motorcycle riding. He dove competitively for the Amador Valley High School Dive Team, was a swimmer, enjoyed scuba diving, and was an amateur mechanic.
He was also an organ donor.
Dean leaves his parents Fred and Janna Dean of Pleasanton; brother Josh Dean of San Diego; grandparents Boyd and Helen Mahan of Placerville, Andrew and Maxine Irwin of El Paso, Texas, Marianne Cody Dean of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; and great-grandmother Gladys Miller-Sweet of Phoenix, Ariz.
A memorial service was held Oct. 24 at Valley Community Church in Pleasanton.

Oline Jacobson Blanton
Oline Jacobson Blanton, a two-year resident of Pleasanton, died Oct. 10 at the age of 86 after battling with pancreatic cancer and dementia.
She received a bachelor's degree in political science in 1936 from UC Berkeley and was a proud member of the Cal Berkeley Alumni Association.
She received her real estate license and teaching credential in Modesto and taught in Modesto schools. When her family moved to Santa Cruz she taught at San Lorenzo Valley High School and served the Santa Cruz School District as a home teacher. She later renewed her real estate career with Darrow Talbert Realty.
She was actively involved in the Modesto Branch of the American Association of University Women and was a past president and national delegate for the branch organization. She was a member of Modesto's First Methodist Church, the Santa Cruz Newcomers Club, and the Santa Cruz Federated Women's Club.
She leaves son Paul Blanton of Santa Cruz; daughter Sally L. Thomas of Pleasanton, and daughter and son-in-law Eleanor B. and Bill Kirkham of San Mateo; five grandchildren and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, J. Bonner Blanton, who died in 1983.
A memorial service was held Oct 27 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton.
Her burial is at Santa Cruz Memorial Park.

James F. Mac Stay
James F. Mac Stay, a 32-year resident of Pleasanton, died Oct. 12 at the age of 79.
He served in the Coast Guard and was a driver with Dolly Madison. He also worked for Langendorf and Colombo Bakeries for 30 years and only took one sick day.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton, and volunteered at the Pleasanton Senior Center and ValleyCare Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Nadine Mac Stay; sons James M. Mac Stay of Pleasanton, and Richard Mac Stay of Concord; daughter Nadine B. Monser of Scotts Valley; sisters Catherine Musso of San Leandro, and Rita Plsek of Mission Viejo; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 16 at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
His burial is at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
Margaret M. Moldovak
Margaret M. Moldovak, a native of New York and a seven-year resident of Pleasanton, died Oct. 12 at the age of 86.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton, was an open and friendly person to all who knew her, and enjoyed opening her home to all. She was a homemaker and worked part-time in retail sales. While in New York she was a founding member of her church's senior citizen club, The St. Elizabeth Seton Club of St. Ignatius Loyola Church in New York.
She leaves daughters and sons-in-law Peggy and Thomas Gill of Hicksville, N.Y., and Denise and Michael Woodcheke of Pleasanton; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in New York.

Rosaline Deni
Rosaline Deni, a 66-year resident of Pleasanton, died Oct. 13 at the age of 95.
She was the owner and operator of the Central Meat Market for 25 years, which was formerly located at the corner of Division Street and Main Street (across from Kolln Hardware).
Among her hobbies, she loved to go camping and to garden.
She leaves daughters Caroline Salice of San Jose, Lilian Walker of Beaverton, Ore., and Bernice Stuart of Murrieta Hot Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Domenic Deni, who died in Pleasanton in 1971.
A visitation was held Oct. 18 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton. A service was held on the following day at the same location.
Her burial is at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Pleasanton.
