(September 21, 2001) Gordon Brettell Beck
Gordon Brettell Beck, a 30-year resident of La Mesa, Calif., died Sept. 6 at the age of 72.
He was a retired teacher at Monte Vista High School, where he taught for 25 years. He was also a deacon and a teacher at College Avenue Baptist Church in San Diego.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Donna M. Beck of San Diego; sons David Beck of Pleasanton and Alan Beck of Sunnyvale; and daughter Catherine Beck of Tustin Ranch, Calif.
A memorial service was held Sept. 14 at College Avenue Baptist Church.
His burial was held privately.
Anna L. Pinto
Anna L. Pinto, a 53-year resident of Pleasanton, died Sept. 9 at the age of 82.
A member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton, she also loved to roller-skate, play horseshoes and go to Reno and Monterey. She worked as a homemaker for 62 years.
Pinto leaves her husband of 62 years, John Pinto; son Kenneth A. Pinto of Pleasanton; daughters Donna McGee of Pleasanton, Joyce McNutt of Auburn, and Kathi Pinto of Martinez; sisters Violet Ramsey of Antioch; and Katherine Giordiano of El Cerrito; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her son Richard J. Pinto preceded her in death.
A visitation and service were held Sept. 12 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton.
Her burial is at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Pleasanton.
Warren 'Rick' Seymore
Warren "Rick" Seymore, a 40-year resident of Pleasanton, died Sept. 11 at the age of 64.
He served in the Air Force from 1955-58, and worked for the Pleasanton Unified School District for 17 years. He retired from Sandia Laboratories after working there for 17 years.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Gabrielle Seymour; sons Jerry Seymore of Camarillo, Calif., and Rick Seymore of Livermore; daughters Sandy Caffey of Pleasanton; Tracey Seymour-Smith of Livermore; brothers Earl Seymore of Tucson, Ariz., and step-brother Clifton Walker of Eugene, Ore.; sisters Shirley Schomer of Glendale, Ariz., and Donna Hannah of Whitewood, S.D.
A visitation and vigil were held Sept. 14 at Graham Hitch Mortuary, and a funeral service was held on the following day at the same location.
A graveside committal was held Sept. 17 at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Pleasanton.
The family asks that memorial donations be sent to the American Lung Association, 295 27th St., Oakland, CA 94612.
Pete Estrada
Pete Estrada, a longtime resident of Pleasanton, died Sept. 11 at the age of 70.
He was born in Globe, Ariz., and raised in Laton, Calif., and was a former teacher at Amador Valley High School, A gifted athlete, he received a scholarship to St. Mary's College in Moraga for football and baseball. He also pursued a short career in professional baseball in the pioneer league, which included four seasons in the western U.S. and in Canada. He also had a 35-year career as a Spanish teacher, coach, athletic director, and work experience coordinator in both the Dinuba and Pleasanton school districts.
His hobbies included golf and tennis, through which he made many friends. His family remembers him for his love of family and of life.
He leaves his wife, Beverly Estrada; sons Gary Estrada of Las Vegas, and Ron Estrada of Honolulu; and daughter Lisa of Vancouver.
A service was held Sept. 14 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton.
Carol E. Meyer
Carol E. Meyer, a 20-year resident of Pleasanton, died Sept. 12 at the age of 49.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Colorado State University and worked as an interior designer. She was also a member of Crosswinds Church in Dublin, the American Society of Interior Designers, and Gamma Phi Beta.
Meyer leaves her husband of 22 years, David Kratky; father C.C. Bud Meyer of Austin, Texas; and sister Margaret Ann Meyer of Austin, Texas.
The family is planing a memorial service at a later date.
