Harold J. Abbot

Harold J. Abbot, a 25-year resident of Pleasanton, died on July 7 at the age of 84.

Abbot, who was a retired Oakland Firefighter, had recently moved to Walnut Creek from Pleasanton. His ready smiles and jokes at the firehouse earned him the ironic nickname Grumpy. He was a wonderful and generous husband, father, and friend.

His services were held privately.

The family asks that only cards and notes be sent; or by gifts to a favorite charity.

She enjoyed opera, working on her family's genealogy, doting over her grandchildren, and spending time with her large family. She had a touching kindness and a positive attitude.

Snook leaves a son and daughter-in-law Louis and Karen Vandersnook of Pleasanton; sisters Vera Weiss of Sacramento, Zina Siebert of Morgan Hill, and Ellen Spencer of Roy, Utah; two grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and relatives in Sweden.
