(June 22, 2001) Sam Andrew Bigley
Sam Andrew Bigley, a longtime resident of Pleasanton, died May 18 at the age of 34.
Bigley lived in Pleasanton from the first grade until graduating from Amador Valley High School. He attended Lynnewood United Methodist Church. For the past six months he and his family lived in Brentwood.
He was an outdoor electrical products salesman for Pacific Utility Products, and then became assistant basketball coach at Amador Valley High School for part of the 2000/2001 season.
He enjoyed attending the Men's Bible Study at Cross Winds Church in Pleasanton, and basketball and golf. He was also a devoted husband and father.
Bigley leaves his wife Kathy Bigley; son Andrew Bigley; daughter Kaily; parents Bill and Carole Bigley of El Sobrante; brother Jon Bigley of Bethel Island; brothers and sisters-in-law Pete and Genny Bigley of Modesto, and Tom and Sharon Bigley of Fremont; sister and brother-in-law Jill and Rick Dykes of Livermore; five nieces; three nephews; and mother-in-law Irene Mongeon of Livermore.
A service was held June 2 at Cross Winds Church.
He was cremated and his ashes were spread at sea.

Samuel Montgomery Boyd
Samuel Montgomery Boyd, a 19-year resident of Pleasanton, died of cancer June 1 at the age of 54.
He worked in the computer and networking industry throughout his life, starting as a technician and working his way through numerous executive positions. At the time of his death, he was senior vice president of operations and quality for Riverstone Networks in Santa Clara.
He loved reading books, listening to music and taking care of others.
Boyd leaves his wife his wife of 33 years, Teresa Boyd of Pleasanton; sons Brian P. Boyd of Pleasanton, and Jason M. Boyd of Mountain View; daughter Angela C. Hurtz of Pleasanton; brother Mike Boyd of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters Pat Rogers, Pam Mize and Sandy Boyd, all of Topeka, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
A visitation was held June 7 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton and a funeral service was held the following day at Valley Christian Center in Dublin.
The burial was held at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.

Louis Joseph Bevilacqua
Louis Joseph Bevilacqua, a three-year resident of Pleasanton, died June 10 at the age of 87.
An auto mechanic for 50 years, he was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton. His many interests included race cars, baseball, reading and drawing.
He leaves his son and daughter-in-law Lou and Paulette Bevilacqua of Millbrae; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Bruce Shay of Livermore; seven grandchildren and 14 grandchildren.
His wife of 64 years, Stella Bevilacqua, and daughter Deanna Ford both preceded him in death.
A private service was held at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.
The family asks that memorial donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 2065 W. El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View.
Geneva Irene Brown
Geneva Irene Brown, a 42-year resident of Pleasanton, died June 12 at the age of 86.
She served in the Marine Corps and worked as a payroll clerk for B & R Construction Co. She was a member of the Castlewood Country Club and an avid golfer.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, Fred Brown; and her niece Maxine Yeager.
No service was held.
The burial was held at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo.

Lucille V. Magness Bovey
Lucille V. Magness Bovey, a 33-year resident of Pleasanton, died June 12 at the age of 73.
A homemaker for 15 years, she was a talented artist who loved painting landscapes. She was very devoted to her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed taking trips to Reno.
She leaves her husband of 45 years, Elton Bovey; son Larry Allred of Livermore and step-son Ronald Bovey of San Jose; daughter Patricia Cellar of Stockton and step-daughter Caren Coffee of Arizona; brothers Roy and Gary of Arkansas; sister Mary Keith of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and 13 grandchildren, with one on the way. Brenda Pixley, a daughter, and Royce Magness, a brother, both preceded her in death.
A visitation was held June 17 at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore followed by a funeral service the next day.
The burial was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Livermore.

John Duncan McClain
John Duncan McClain, a 37-year resident of Pleasanton, died June 13 at the age of 77.
A WWII Navy veteran, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Oaklahoma. He worked as a teacher for 45 years in Oaklahoma, New Mexico and Oakland.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Mary Jane McClain of Pleasanton; son John S. McClain of Livermore; daughters Gretchen M. McClain of Belmont, Mass., and Sara A. McClain of Brentwood; brother Glen McClain of Hobbs, N.M.; sisters Eloise Poe of Poteau, Okla., and Pauline Lee of Spiro, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
A visitation was held June 17 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton and a funeral service was held the next day at the same location.
The burial was held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mendocino.
