Regal IMAX opens in Dublin Regal IMAX opens in Dublin (May 05, 2000)

Hundreds at pre-opening festivities

Hundreds turned out for pre-opening festivities this week at the new 21-screen Regal Cinema IMAX in Dublin, which opens to the public tonight with 14 different movies.

The architecturally striking, multi-story theater is owned by the same company that owns Pleasanton's Galaxy movie house, which will now show "alternative" films generally not now offered at other theaters in the Tri-Valley.

Pleasanton theatergoers joined crowds from Dublin in three different celebrations. (See "Around Pleasanton", p. 3). All proceeds from tickets costing $25 were given to the "Computers to our Schools" project, a technology partnership between the Dublin city government and school district. The City Council matched all proceeds raised.

The events included live music, complimentary refreshments and tours of the theaters. Then the several theaters were opened to show the 3D feature "Cirque Du Soliel" and the IMAX premier of "Michael Jordan: To the Max."<@$p>
