Blessing families for Christmas

Uploaded: Dec 27, 2022
If you wanted to enjoy a heart-warming experience, you should have stopped by Valley Community Church in Pleasanton Friday morning.
Monthly Miracles, the Christian non -profit ministry dedicated to serving people dealing with economic challenges, held its annual Christmas outreach. Executive Director Kris Bethea wrote in an email that they served more than 900 families (about 600 children) in the three-hour period.
Participants, served by about 150 volunteers, enjoyed a hot meal with dishes donated by several local restaurants and a coffee/hot cocoa bar. They received presents specifically purchased for their family by volunteer donors (some came to present their “adopted” family with the gifts in person). Monthly Miracles halted registration for gifts on Nov. 30 because they had so many sign-ups. Kris wrote that it showed they may have under-estimated the need.
Families also could “shop’ for clothing including coats and shoes in the parking lot that had been transformed by the volunteers. Prayer was offered in one booth and Bibles were available for the taking.
Seeing recipients carry large garbage bags full of clothing and other things they need in addition to the gifts. For those with young kids, plenty of boxes of diapers were available.
Kris wrote in an email, “On behalf of Monthly Miracles and personally, I would like to thank you for your support and service for our mission at this year’s Christmas Miracles!
We have served over 900 neighbors in need, more than we expected! Every single person received food, gifts, donations and love. You all have worked in unity and joy, shining bright for our Lord Jesus.
“The feedback has been overwhelming, and the testimonies are pouring in… We have seen salvations, deliverances, prophecies and miracles… You are all a part of something very special that God is doing in our Tri-Valley.”
She asks people to support her work by donating $1 monthly or $12 a year—more, obviously, is welcome, particularly in this year-end period.
I wrote around Thanksgiving about Kris and how she came to lead the ministry. Please check that earlier blog for additional information.
Community.
What is it worth to you?
