Motel check leads to auto theft charge
A police check of the parking lot at Motel 6 at 5102 Hopyard Road led to the arrest of a woman in connection with a car theft in San Mateo, according to a police report.
The car, a rental, was unoccupied when it was spotted, but the suspect got into the car while the officer was waiting for information from the clerk. Tonique Theard, 27, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. March 14, according to the report.
In other reports, brass fire hydrant caps worth an estimated $2,100 have been stolen from various spots across the city, a police report said. The caps are worth an estimated $100 apiece.
