Letters: Special time for the arts
Dear Editor,
I want to recognize the astronomical level of public involvement currently being experienced in the arts in Pleasanton. Coming fresh off a successful grand opening of our Firehouse Arts Center, with hundreds of people attending opening events over three days, without a doubt, creativity is in the air. Everywhere there is talk of the visual arts, gallery showings, an upcoming monthly art walk, musical presentations at the new theater, a revived Amador Theater, opera performances, dance performances and more. It is truly a special time for creating, enjoying and learning in Pleasanton.
The Firehouse Arts Center is a flower of many cultivators. The city, generous donors, artists, arts organizations and others have all played a part in weeding and watering this project to fruition. One group that played a huge part was the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation, which sprouted from the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council (PCAC), a nonprofit arts advocacy group for over 30 years. As the Foundation winds down its efforts, it will fold back into PCAC to keep the arts well nourished in Pleasanton.
We encourage you to ride this tidal wave of community involvement all the way to the shore, by joining Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council. Several membership levels are available at www.PleasantonArts.org, or call 931-1111. Also, be sure to make your way to the new Firehouse Arts Center soon, for an event or simply to take in the beautiful architecture and gardens.
Again, thank you so much to the residents of Pleasanton and its surrounding communities for all of your support!
