Man punched by burglar

A daytime break-in Aug. 11 at a home in the 4000 block of Alvarado Street of Pleasanton turned violent when the homeowner returned.

"He found someone inside his house. He asked what was going on, why the guy was inside," said Pleasanton police Sgt. Jim Knox. "He didn't respond. The guy asked again and he (the burglar) punched him."

The homeowner, who was punched in the head, was not seriously injured.

Knox described the burglar as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 10 inches tall and 200 pounds.

Police are following up on some leads, including a possible description of the car.
