Chelsea Randel received the Girl Scout Gold Award capping her 13 years of being in Scouts with a service project for which she collected more than 800 children's books and set up a library system for six schools in Costa Rica.. The Gold Award is the highest award attainable in the Girl Scouts. Randel earned the pin by completing three badges reflecting the values of the Girl Scout Law: 30 hours of leadership, 40 hours of career exploration, and 60 hours planning and implementing her service project. Fellow troop members, family and friends were present at the ceremony as troop leader Diana Nathan presented the award to Randel.
