Fire damages home across from Pleasanton Library
An unoccupied home at 4834 Harrison St. sustained some damage Saturday when plywood placed on top of a floor furnace caught fire.
Firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department were at the scene minutes after a motorist called to report smoke coming from the home, which is located across Old Bernal Avenue from the Pleasanton Library.
An ambulance also was dispatched to the scene, but left after it was determined no one was inside the smoke-filled home.
Fire department investigators determined that the cause of the fire was a 1-foot by 2-foot piece of plywood that was inadvertently left on top of a floor furnace and caught fire. It appeared that the owner was in the process of renovating the home, fire officials said.
