Rage U14 Orange dominate at CYSA cup
The Rage U-14 Orange advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the CYSA Association Cup Jan. 9 in Lemoore, Calif. Kayla Bautista wasted no time with a quick lower left corner goal in game one against ARYSL Folsom Freedom. Rage added another goal when fullback Laura Morgan passed up to Bautista, who dribbled up the left side and crossed to midfielder Claire Williams for the score. Folsom closed the scoring with a second half goal. Rebecca Dumanski, Courtney Seams and Bautista controlled the ball 43 times in the win. Fullbacks Patti Norcross and Claire Hickel made some great defensive stops in the Rage goal area. Courtney started game two scoring against Kingsburg K-Town Kickers taking advantage of a misplayed goalie ball.
In the second half, the Kickers scored goals on a breakaway near midfield and after a nice pass in front of the RAGE goal. Fullbacks Katie Oross, Olivia Deutschman, and Laura took 15 Kicker threats to the outside. Goalie Nikki Costello also made a great stop. RAGE quickly rebounded in game three against Sacramento Woodland Sparks, when Vanessa Villanueva dribbled up the right side and crossed to Ariel Gershman for the goal. Vanessa finished the scoring with a great shot into the upper left corner. Courtney, Vanessa, and Kayla controlled the ball 40 times in the Rage win. Lindsay Curlett and Erica Goldhawk supported the midfield.
