Pleasanton man charged with domestic violence, attempted murder
A 51-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempted murder and domestic violence for allegedly beating his wife at their Pleasanton home early Saturday morning, according to Pleasanton police.
Shortly before 4 a.m., the couple's 8-year-old son was awoken by his parents fighting, police said.
When the boy saw his father beating his mother, he ran from their home in the 6000 block of Corte Nuevo to a neighbor's house for help, according to police.
The 44-year-old neighbor went next door and found the boy's father choking his wife as she lay on the floor. The neighbor wrestled with the man, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, and held him down until officers responded.
The suspect, Jose Zimic, was taken into custody and booked into county jail, police said.
Zimic's wife was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where she was listed in serious condition. Injuries she sustained include a bi-lateral nasal fracture, a fractured left cheekbone, a fractured left eye socket, a fractured jawbone and a large subdural hematoma.
